In this presentation we will explore the four food parenting styles and the evidence to support the use of an authoritative style. Further, we will discuss the feeding dynamics model as described by Ellen Satter, Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and Family Therapist. Finally, we will discuss the many ways that nutrition and mental health professionals can come together to provide comprehensive care to treat the whole patient.

Learning Objectives:
1. To name the four styles of food parenting
2. To describe the division of responsibility and its importance in childhood nutrition
3. To describe the benefits of collaboration between mental health and nutrition professionals in the pediatric population

Bio

Andrea is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician by the National Board of Nutrition Support Clinicians, and a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in the State of Illinois. Andrea received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from the Middle Tennessee State University. She completed a Dietetic Internship at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital and a Fellowship in Neonatal Nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine.

On the 4th Thursday of every month, The Theraplay® Institute (TTI) hosts a meeting of attachment-focused mental health professionals, educators, and healthcare providers. The group includes professionals who work in private practices, adoption agencies, nonprofits, hospitals, and schools.  Attachment Matters offers the opportunity to meet professionals with similar interests and gain valuable skills and information.  This meeting will be from 9-11AM at The Theraplay® Institute, 1840 Oak Ave, Suite 320, Evanston, IL, 60201.
