One Day Overview Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (February 5, 2018) Evanston, IL

Trainers: Dafna Lender

Evanston, Illinois

This workshop will teach the fundamentals of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. This approach assists professionals to understand and effectively address the underlying traumatic experiences that result in behavioral and relational problems in children. In this model, theory and research in the areas of developmental trauma, attachment theory, intersubjectivity and child development are integrated to produce a therapeutic approach and concrete tools for getting through a child’s defensiveness and feelings of shame to allow them to feel open towards receiving support from their adult attachment figure.  Furthermore, the workshop will focus on getting parents to feel less defensive and more cooperative so they can focus on their child’s healing.

The principles and interventions are presented through formal presentations, discussion, videotape of sessions, role-play, and hand outs.
