The Theraplay® Institute maintains a supervision practicum (click here for details). Graduates earn the credential of Certified Theraplay Therapist and may go on to become Certified Theraplay Trainers and/or Supervisors (click here for details). Candidates may apply for the practicum upon completion of the Introductory Theraplay & MIM training. Residents of countries with chartered Theraplay Associations may apply to and be supervised by them. International Theraplay Associations are currently chartered in Finland and Germany. Residents of countries with no chartered Theraplay Association may study with the Certified Theraplay Supervisor of their choice, but application must first be made to The Theraplay Institute.

Supervision may be done live, via videotape/DVD mailed to the supervisor or at supervision groups. A minimum of one year is required for completion. The Theraplay Institute has a monthly supervision group (click here for details). We offer supervision groups in London on a periodic basis, and there are several options for organizing supervision groups in your area. Please contact us for more information.

Acceptance into the practicum is not a requirement for supervision. We encourage graduates of our Introductory training to participate in group supervision or send in a video for supervision.

NEW... In order to encourage more clinicians to seek supervision and enter the practicum, and to recognize significant milestones of those in the practicum, we introduce a new protocol.

Although the requirements remain the same, the new protocol addresses the content and timing of submissions for supervision, and offers a three step progression toward certification that recognizes the student's successful completion of each level:

    Level 1 Theraplay Practitioner,
    Level 2 Theraplay Practitioner,
    Certified Theraplay Therapist.
